Do you want to learn more about how planned burns are damaging our ecosystems? And how they don’t they achieve their purported aim of reducing fuel loads. This will be a great talk by FOBIF committee member, Karl Just. We hope that this discussion will prompt investigation into how these burns cause damage to our local forests.
I fully support ending so-called planned burns. How do we stop them?
They have become a ritualised form of pyromania, a weapon of mass destruction that eradicates wildlife as we know it.
Recently i received a letter requesting access to my property in Chewton for the purpose of conducting planned burns in the adjacent gold diggings forest park. I immediately phoned them to deny access and register my complaint against such burning, only to be told the burnings had already been approved.
Thanks Carole, FOBIF have sent a submission to FFMV outlining our concerns for the proposed Chewton burn.
Good they they won’t be able to get in there to burn. Thanks for protecting the park.
Twice now, Anne and I have taken officers on tours of previous planned burns and shown the catastrophic regrowth they have caused, only to be met by the excuse …..OH that burn was too hot. It is like they close their eyes to what they have caused.
How do we get access to their post-burn studies, especially after 3 -4 years of regrowth?
We believe what they are doing, endangering people’s lives, is criminal.
Thanks Rob, FOBIF have struggled to get any supporting data or evidence from FFMV so we are currently seeking any post-burn monitoring they may have through a Freedom of Information request. We will let members know what we find.
HI FOBIF – will it be recorded and available to watch later? I have a commitment that evening already!
Hi Chris, I have been told that VFA will post the talk on their website.
